Doron Hakimian, president and chief designer of Doves by Doron Paloma, will mark his second visit to Lily & Co. Jewelers with a special trunk show Friday, Nov. 11. Hakimian will then take part in “Playing to Keep Families Close” charity tennis event Saturday, Nov. 12 hosted at Beachview Tennis Club.
Playing to Keep Families Close, title sponsored by Lily & Co., benefits Ronald McDonald House Charities which creates, finds and supports programs directly improving the health and well-being of children and their families in Southwest Florida to keep families close.
“We couldn’t be more excited to again welcome Doves to our wonderful island,” says Lily & Co. Owners Dan Schuyler and Karen Bell. “It is a real treat to have him join us in our tennis event, too.”
Schuyler, an avid tennis player, met Hakimian at the 2015 U.S. Open with legendary tennis coach Nick Bollettieri who will be partnering in the Playing to Keep Families Close event. Bollettieri and his IMG Academy pros will be providing instruction to players on the HydroGrid clay courts of Beachview Tennis Club. Children can receive instruction and win amazing prizes with a paid adult.
“The idea is to help the everyday player, sure,” said Bollettieri. “But it is more about helping the community, the thing that is most important to Dan and Karen.”
One-Day Trunk Show
The one-day-only Doves trunk show will feature artistically designed pieces inspired by nature. “Doron combines 18-karat gold, diamonds and precious gemstones to create unique treasures,” says Schuyler. His attention to detail produces a dramatic creation, yet it’s his unrelenting pursuit of perfection that sets his designs apart.
Hakimian has always been a jewelry enthusiast. He grew up in a family of precious gem stone manufacturers, but chose to pursue his other passion, architecture. Hakimian received his architecture degree and garnered several awards in the field, including the prestigious American Institute of Architects design award.
He discovered his hidden talent for creating beautiful jewelry when he spent a summer sketching pieces for his family business. His incredible gift for drawing, along with his architects eye, proved to be a winning combination for creating stunning jewelry. Today, every Doves piece begins with a pencil and a sketch board.
In the past several years, Doves trend-setting designs have even received celebrity attention – designing exclusive pieces for First Lady Michelle Obama, Jennifer Lopez, Catherine Zeta-Jones and others. Doves has become synonymous with eye-catching and wearable heirloom-quality jewelry.
“I couldn’t be more thrilled to once again visit Lily & Co. and Sanibel Island,” said Hakimian. “From the first time I met Dan and Nick, I knew they had big hearts. This special tennis event really represents a small portion of what they do for their community. I am just delighted to be a part of it.”
The Doves Trunk Show is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 11 at Lily & Co. Jewelers, 520 Tarpon Bay Rd.
