Lily & Co. Gives Back to Sanibel Charities

March 8, 2017 By Shannen Hayes

Kiwanis Spaghetti Dinner serves up meatballs at a nostalgic town gathering.

Lily & Co. Jewelers is giving back to its community through several fine community events throughout February and March – 4th Annual Go F.I.S.H., Under the Sea, Kiwanis Spaghetti Dinner and the 34th Annual Lions Arts & Crafts Fair.

“There are many wonderful organizations on our island that truly make it a beautiful place to live, work and visit,” said Lily & Co. Owners Dan Schuyler and Karen Bell. “We are delighted to give back to the community which always supports us.”

In early February, The Bailey Matthews National Shell Museum hosted its annual Under the Sea gala fundraiser to benefit extensive education programs for all ages, offered both within the museum and as outreach efforts in the greater community.

The Kiwanis Spaghetti Dinner, held in February, has been a fixture on locals’ calendars for more than three decades. Some say it’s one of the “high holidays” of the island social scene, a throwback to our small town roots. However, all the fun is for a good cause – funding island youth recreation and education activities, including a scholarship program.

Go F.I.S.H., held in March, raises funds for the most inclusive human services agency on the islands, F.I.S.H. of SanCap. In 2016, the organization assisted 2,772 individuals, ranging from seniors to youth and families, through numerous programs funded by 92.5 percent of the budget. The F.I.S.H. Walk-In Center, at 2340 Periwinkle Way, houses the island’s only food pantry and is a designated United Way House.

Sanibel Captiva Lions Arts & Crafts Fair

Lions Arts & Crafts Fair benefits various island charities, vision and hearing based charities and local scholarships.

The Lions Arts & Crafts Fair will enter its 34th year on Friday March 17 and Saturday, March 18, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Sanibel Community House. Experience original artwork and crafts in diverse mediums by more than 100 artists and good food. Funds raised from the fair benefit various island charities, vision and hearing based charities and local scholarship supported by the Sanibel Captiva Lions Club.
